Niklas Hehmke from the Chair of Energy Process Engineering at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) attended the 23rd International Heat Pipe Conference and 17th International Heat Pipe Symposium (IHPC/IHPS 2026), held in Gdańsk, Poland, from 24 to 28 May. The conference is one of the main international meetings on heat pipes and thermosyphons and brings together researchers and industry working on topics from fundamental two-phase heat transfer to manufacturing, materials and applications. Within the STARTREC project, FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg presented a talk entitled “Additively manufactured planar sodium heat pipe: Capillary performance of Inconel 718 wicks”, which reported on the permeability and effective capillary radius of laser powder bed fusion wicks for a planar sodium heat pipe designed for future use in cogeneration units.
